Short abstract from the book: reeding in reedbeds, the bearded tit has a patchy distribution in Denmark. The first confirmed breeding attempt
was in 1966. The first bearded tit was ringed in 1967; the
largest number was ringed in 1992 (875). All the recovered
birds were ringed in reedbeds in Western and North-Western
Jutland. Rather surprisingly, half of the 17 recoveries are from
abroad – from Norway (4), Sweden (3), Kaliningrad (1) and
the Netherlands (1). These recoveries indicate that although
bearded tits are considered residents, some do perform dispersive movements over longer distances in some years – mainly in
October. The two longest movements, to Kaliningrad and the
Netherlands, were performed by juvenile males. Six foreign
birds have been recovered in Denmark: four from Sweden,
one from Germany and one from the Netherlands.
