Short abstract from the book: Brent geese of the nominate dark-bellied form B. b. bernicla,
breeding in Siberia, as well as light-bellied brent geese B. b.
hrota, breeding on Svalbard and in northeast Greenland,
are common migrants in Denmark. The Siberian subspecies
have mainly been ringed and recovered in southern parts of
Denmark, where numbers are greatest in October. During
winter Siberian birds ringed in Denmark have been recovered
in southern England and western France. In spring, Siberian
brent geese have been recovered in England and the Wadden
Sea in April and west of the Urals in May (migrating 408
km/day).
Brent geese of the subspecies B.b. hrota have been recovered in Denmark from 22 September to 11 February, with
most recovered in December. Most Svalbard geese have been
recovered in northern and western Jutland. Some winter in
Denmark, while others migrate to Lindisfarne in northeast
England.
