Short abstract from the book: The crane is a rare breeding bird with an estimated population of 40 pairs. Many cranes are seen on migration, most
in March–April and September–October. Only six cranes
have been ringed in Denmark, the most recent in 1967. A
crane ringed as a chick in 1952 was recovered in France in
November 1953. A bird from eastern Germany was observed
in Vejlerne in northwest Jutland in autumn 2002.
