Short abstract from the book: The pheasant is a common breeding bird all over Denmark,
and furthermore great numbers are released every year for
hunting. The first pheasant was ringed in Denmark in 1919.
Many birds reared in captivity are ringed before release. In
total, 52,266 pheasants have been ringed and 11,088 recovered. Most birds were ringed by the Vildtbiologisk Station,
Kalø. Since most of this data is not computerised, it was not
possible to analyse all the recoveries for this Atlas. Among 85
recovered pheasants ringed by the Zoological Museum, 68 %
were recovered less than 4 km from the ringing site. The mean
distance between ringing and recovery site was 3 km.
