Common Redpoll

Carduelis flammea

Gråsisken

Gråsisken

Short abstract from the book:
The redpoll of the subspecies cabaret is a common breeding bird in most of Jutland and a scattered breeding bird in the rest of Denmark. The nominate subspecies flammea is a common passage migrant and winter visitor. In some years it occurs in irruptions. In Denmark the first redpoll was ringed in 1928, with the majority ringed from the 1970s to today. Forty-seven of the recovered redpolls were described as cabaret; however, the subspecies was not identified for the remaining 91. Most of the recovered birds were ringed in April and August. From October to December cabarets have been recovered in Denmark, Belgium and Germany. Two cabarets ringed in Denmark have been recovered in southern Norway and southwest Sweden. Furthermore, four cabarets from Sweden and one from Norway have been recovered in Denmark. Redpolls, for which the subspecies was not identified, have been recovered from Belgium in the west to the Ukraine in the east.
