Short abstract from the book: The crested tit is a common breeding bird in Jutland and
on Funen, but east of Funen it is only found as a very rare
visitor. In Denmark the first crested tit was ringed in 1919,
with the greatest number ringed in 1990. The recovered birds
were ringed throughout the year, and were probably all from
the Danish population. The Danish crested tits are residents.
Eighty per cent of the birds were recovered within 1 km of
the ringing site and 94 % within 10 km. The mean distance
between ringing and recovery site was less than 1 km for birds
ringed as adults (0–6 km, n=43) and 26 km for birds ringed
as chicks (5–59 km, n=5). No Danish crested tits have been
recovered abroad and no foreign birds have been found in
Denmark.
