Short abstract from the book: The gadwall is a rare breeding bird in Denmark, breeding
mainly in the south and east of the country. The first gadwall
was ringed in 1964. The recovered birds were all ringed between 13 September and 6 April, and could therefore be either
passing migrants or Danish breeders. The recoveries suggest
that the passage migrants come from Finland and Latvia.
Some of the gadwalls winter in Denmark (e.g. a Finnish
breeder) and some migrate southwest to winter in France, the
Netherlands or Great Britain. A few gadwalls ringed as ducklings in southern England have been recovered in Denmark
a few months later, and a bird ringed in the Netherlands in
October
