Short abstract from the book: The lesser spotted woodpecker is a rare breeding bird in
Denmark with less the 100 breeding pairs. In some winters
Denmark is visited by lesser spotted woodpeckers, probably
from Sweden and Germany. Thirty-three birds have been
ringed in Denmark since 1930, but none was subsequently
recovered. Two birds ringed in southern Sweden were recovered in Denmark in February 1963 and November 1973,
both in western Zealand.
