Short abstract from the book: In Denmark the little ringed plover is a rare breeder and a
rare passage migrant in July–September and April–May.
The first little plover was ringed in 1929; most were ringed
in the 1970s. The recovered birds were all ringed in May–
August either as chicks or fully grown, and are therefore probably of Danish origin.
Three birds have been recovered in Germany in late August,
and these few autumn recoveries indicate that Danish little
ringed plovers migrate due south. One bird was recovered in
Mali, where the species is known to winter. During autumn
two birds were recovered in northern Italy and southwest
Russia respectively. Ringed birds have been recovered in
Denmark in mid-May. Many birds tend to return to their
birthplace/breeding site in subsequent years.
Nine little ringed plovers ringed in southern Sweden have
been found in Zealand from May–July. One was recovered
on 25 July shortly after ringing, but the rest were found in
subsequent years. Three birds born in Schleswig-Holstein were
also found in Denmark in the breeding season.
