Short abstract from the book: Great numbers of pink-footed geese pass through Denmark
in autumn and spring. In all, 1,912 pink-footed geese have
been ringed and 156 recovered. The recoveries show that pink-footed geese from Svalbard migrate via the Trondheimsfjord
in Norway to the staging areas in western Jutland, mainly
around Vest Stadil Fjord. In November most of the birds
recovered were south of Denmark, mainly in the Netherlands.
Some birds return to Denmark at the end of December if the
winter is mild. The geese depart from Denmark from mid-April, and after another rest in the Trondheimsfjord return to
Svalbard at the end of May. Two birds from the Greenland/Iceland population have been recovered in Denmark. In addition, a few birds ringed in Great Brittain, where geese from Iceland and Greenland winter, have also been recovered in Denmark.
