Short abstract from the book: The red-throated diver does not breed in Denmark, but the
species is a common passage migrant. The Baltic Sea and
the North Sea are important moulting and wintering areas.
Twenty-one red-throated divers from Sweden and Finland
have been recovered in Denmark from mid-September to
mid-May, with most recoveries in December. A large proportion of the birds are found dead along the beaches of north and
west Jutland. The winter population probably consists of birds
from a greater area than indicated by the recoveries.
