Short abstract from the book: The spotted crake is an infrequent breeding bird in Denmark,
breeding in freshwater wetlands with shallow water and dense
vegetation. The first spotted crake was ringed in 1961, with
the highest number ringed in 1963 (15). Most of the birds
were ringed in eastern Denmark, and only two in Jutland.
The only two birds that have been recovered were ringed in
September and could be either of Danish or foreign origin.
Both birds were found during the same autumn as ringed:
one was ringed on 12 September on Amager and shot 34 days
later in France in Normandy (1,240 km SW); the other was
ringed on 21 September at Lolland and found dead 10 days
later in Germany (642 km SSW). No birds ringed abroad
have been recovered in Denmark.
