Short abstract from the book: The tree pipit is a common breeding bird all over Denmark,
breeding at highest densities in central and western Jutland.
Many migrants pass Denmark in August–September and in
May. In Denmark the first tree pipit was ringed in 1921, with
the highest number ringed in 1985 (690). Two of the recovered birds were ringed as chicks, and the rest were ringed at
migration hotspots during migration. The recoveries show that
the tree pipits migrate SSW from Denmark to central Europe.
In September birds have been recovered in northern Italy and
eastern France. No birds have been recovered from the winter
quarters in tropical Africa, but one has been recovered from
France (10 February) and one from Algeria (8 January). In
spring birds have been recovered in Denmark, the first on
24 March. Little is known about the origin of the passage
migrants: one bird was recovered in the breeding season in
southern Sweden and a bird ringed in southern Norway was
later recovered on Christiansø.
