Short abstract from the book: In 1996 the spoonbill bred in Denmark after an absence of 27
years. In 2004 the population was 27 breeding pairs. The first
spoonbill was ringed in the 1940s, and in total 16 have been
ringed. Four birds have been recovered, all in the first autumn
after ringing, two in France and two in Spain. Five spoonbills
from the population in the Netherlands have been found in
Denmark, some in their first autumn (August and September).
One of the Dutch birds that visited Denmark was later recovered
in Morocco (October) and Banc d’Arguin (January).
